creation of material master

Hi friends,

I just want to take an example of cococola to create material master

for the beverages what would be the values for

industry sector

material type

base unit of measurement

sales unit

alternative unit of measurement

material group

how can they differentiate 1liter, 2 liter bottles etc, how conversion takes place

According to my knowledge

Base unit of measurement:It is used as a base for all transactions, all quantity movements in another unit of measure

but we can sell the products through sales unit "box" based on the conversion factor

DEAR GURUS I NEED SOME DETAILED CLARIFICATION in the process of configure that material(take the example as coco cola )

I dont believe that it will help you further if I tell you that the

industry sector should be C for chemicals

material type FERT for finished material

    base unit milliliter

    sales unit bottle

    etc etc

Because the next reply you get may just give different values for these fields.

You have to understand what each field means, how it is used and what it controls.

a sales unit is, if it is different from the base unit, an alternative unit

an industry sector controls which views and fields are availabe for data maintenance.

Material type can influence this as well, but they are further customized to decide if a materail of this type is quantity and value managed or just quantity managed, or only value managed. And you may have different number ranges per material type.

But everything is up to a global design and the nature of the company.

If oyu produce coke, then it might be FERT finished product, but if you just buy and sell it then a HAWA would be the riht choice, if you just buy and consume it, then it could be a NLAG non inventoried item.

So it is with the base unit. if I produce coke, then I would have a bulk material in liter, and further material masters for the different boxes and bottle sizes

Others would eventually just use one material and make it configurable, or use the alterantive units for the different boxes.

You should start reading documentation, as these questions are very basic questions.

Hence, I am locking this thread.
