Main work centre is for Plant maintainance Prospective like who is responsible for that particular equipment while work centre oon the location tab is for Production prespective both are having different categories 0005 for PM & 0002 for PP in PP generally we consider Machines as work centres which are used for Production.

Greetings Kumar,

The Work Centre in PM and in PP is essentially the same object in SAP, but they are maintained slightly differently.

You create Work Centres for Maintenance in t-code IR01. They will either have a Type of 0005 and Usage 004 or 009 and you will not normally assign formulas to them (except maybe "Other formula"). Such Work Centre will normally be assigned to Work Orders, Task Lists, Maintenance Items etc. and they will be used to distinguish responsibility for performing maintenance and the capacity to perform such maintenance.

You usually maintain Work Centres for Production in t-code CR02. They will have a Type different than 0005, Usage different than 004 and you will typically maintain the entries for formulas, technology etc. The Work Centres will be used in Production Planning module and to plan capacoity for production.

Theoretically, you can use a "PP" work centre on a PM order, although it will not be visible in the search help, as it is not of the default Type 0005. Normally though this Type separates "PM" Work Centres from those of PP.
