hello,
What are the impact if we copy number ranges while copying the plant?
Hi Juby,
The Number Ranges for Plant level are maintained for MRP relevant data primarily.
When you copy and create a Plant from another, these details as well are copied for the Plant that is copied.
Now, when you maintain the same number ranges in Development System while creating the New Plant, the impact will be very less, as the data present in the Development will be relatively low. But when compared to Production System, the number ranges might have been already used in the Production System which will be overwritten when the new number ranges are transported in the Transport Request.
So, in real time you should avoid copying number ranges and go for manual number ranges maintenance. But if the Number Ranges are not existing in the Production System then you can copy and go ahead, as the impact will be less.

It's better to copy number range when copying plant so that you do need to define new number ranges for each every thing, you can later change the number range as per the requirement for some specific ones
