Our implementation team says that they need SQL Server 2008 for SBO whereas the software vendor says that SQL Server 2008 is not now available for sale now. Now only SQL Server 2012 is available and we will have to downgrade it to 2008. What is your opinion and how we should proceed?
Hi Muhammad Aftab,
If your database have been created using SQL2012, you can't downgrade to SQL 2008 or 2008 R2.
You must wait the SAP official announcement about the use of SQL 2012 for SAP B1.
Currently, SAP B1 do not yet support SQL 2012. You only have one option i.e. to use SQL 2008 R2.
You can ask your implementation team to check this link:
https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/smb/sbo/platforms
The team can see the SAP B1 platform like server platform, database platform, client platform etc.
Rgds,
JM

Hi Kennedy...........
Logically if you think, All the old version data would be supported by new version products else upgradation is never being possible.........
So every SQl 200 DB supported by SQL 2005 and SQL 2000 and 2005 supported by SQL 2008 and higher version DB don't support by lower version product.......

Rahul
For data insertion/migration SQL Import utility will be enough. While downgrading the problem will become when there are some new data types in higher version which are not supported/available in the lower version. But as for as our case is concerned currently we have our data in SQL Server 2008 so migrating to some other instance of 2008 or even to 2012, there should be no issue.
HI Muhammad Aftab ,
In SAP Still Process is going for SQL 2012 not yet released full support for it,
Get SQL 2012 and down grade to 2008 and start implementation why there is note from sap you can upgrade to 2012.

Kennedy
