Hi Everyone,
I have a scenario please provide me the config for this. I want to configure a non calendar fiscal year variant which is shortened to 9 months. Fiscal Year is ranges from July 2012 to June 2013. Basically I need to know how to place the periods in case 6 months fall in 2012 and 3 months fall in2013. What I did was like this:
Month Day Period Year Shift
7 31 1 0
8 31 2 0
9 30 3 0
10 31 4 0
11 30 5 0
12 31 6 0
1 31 7 -1
2 28 8 -1
3 31 9 -1
4 30 1 +1
5 31 2 +1
6 30 3 +1
When I try to save the data I get the following error
Message no. FGV556
The period specification has gaps. The periods must be sequentially numbered without any gaps.
Only a correctly defined period assignment can be saved.
Define the periods with consecutive numbers.
Message no. FGV603
Thanks in advance
Mukul Bhardwaj
Hi,
I assume your fiscal year 2013 is shortened. So define ZN as calendar year dependent with 12 periods and flag FY 2013 as shortend with 9 periods. Now define periods as below:
For calendar year 2012
Month Day Period Year Shift
1 31 7 0
2 28 8 0
3 31 9 0
4 30 10 0
5 31 11 0
6 30 12 0
7 31 1 +1
8 31 2 +1
9 30 3 +1
10 31 4 +1
11 30 5 +1
12 31 6 +1
For calendar year 2013
Month Day Period Year Shift
1 31 7 0
2 28 8 0
3 31 9 0
7 31 1 +1
8 31 2 +1
9 30 3 +1
10 31 4 +1
11 30 5 +1
12 31 6 +1

Hello, I am getting this error while saving the FSV. My FSV is based on Weeks. Below is what I am inputting for this. Other details are Calender Year - 2017, No. of posting periods - 53, checked year dependent. Also, I have FSV for previous years also where weeks are 52 but configured as 53. So, hope that this is not creating this issue. Solicit your early response.

Hi Mukul,
With regard to the "Shortened Fiscal Year", I believe you are planning to change the "Accounting Date" (start of the fiscal year) from July 1 to April 1. If yes, then attached are the screenshots whereby a similar scenario is presented.
In the given scenario the accounts are closed on Nov 28 every year and now you decide to close the accounts on August 28 every year. So, in this case you are closing your accounts earlier and now want to set a new start date from August 29 as against Nov 29 previously.
Hope this helps.

One more thing... Don't forget to check table T549S and T549Q to be sure they are defined properly.

T009B is the calendar table that defines your fiscal year variant periods (i.e. payroll calendar).
T549S defines your personel payroll dates - pay date, payroll run date, period end date, posting date, earliest document creation date (you don't necessarily have to define all 5 dates).
T549Q defines your payroll periods (similar to T009B, but also contains calendar dates).
If you have access to SM30, SE16, or SE11, you can view the table data. Below is how we need our payroll periods to be defined - yours will be similar, but will have more '-' and '+' for your years.
If you have non-standard needs, you will not be able to use OB29 to defind your calendar because SAP performs checks and will reject the save unless everything you define is standard. You can use SM30 to define all 3 tables above.
Are you using OB29? If you are, you will never get it to save. Use SM30 to define your calendar, and then test it for every month and year.

Mukul,
You have to define fiscal year variant as year specific. Also what would be the normal posting periods; I believe 12 b/w July and June.
Now if you are trying to make 2012 as shortened fiscay year, you have to first specify the number of periods for 2012 which would be 9 in your case. Only after that you can define these 9 periods for 2012.
Again you will have to define the periods for 2013. Note that shortened fiscal years are year specific and not year independent.
Thanks,
Avinash
Mukul,
No, Shortened fiscal year can be non calendar but they have to be year dependent-you can't have shortended fiscal year as year independent. In your case I am assuming only 2012 is a shortened fiscal year whereas 2013 is not.
Now if you define the periods from July2012 to June2013 its not shortened. If your normal fiscal year is july to june, then it would be shortened if you define for 2012 from October to June (9periods) assuming your one period corresponds to one month. For 2013 it can be July2013 to June2014 with 12 periods.
Thanks,
Avinash
Hi Avinash,
Sry to bother you again.
Your approach seems to be very much near to my satisfaction. But I have one more doubt, If you can address that also, it will be very nice of you.
In your reply you have considered shortened year from Oct to June 2012. Can it be possible to shorten the year as July to march for 2012. If possible what shall be the position of periods with indicators.
Thanks a lot
Mukul
Absolutely, it is possible but you need to know what would be the normal fiscal year look like(for e.g. how may periods, how many special periods etc.). I am attaching the screenshots-they will be more helpful than words. This is under assumption that your fiscal year contains 12 periods, 4 special periods and 2012 as shortened with 9 periods (July-March).
Thereafter it would be normal April-March.
Thanks,
Avinash
Define your shortened periods as you think they should be. If there is any problem during processing during your testing, look at the function 'FIRST_DAY_IN_PERIOD_GET'. The validation is found in function 'MC_PERIO_GET_FIRST_AND_LASTDAY'.
I'm not sure what your circumstances are, but when you define table V_T009B in SM30 you need to use the calendar year. I have to assume that your client's operational year is seasonal, and that they will be closed the remainder of the year?
Define your periods the way you need them to be, then test. You may need to walk through the processing using the debugger.
Good Luck,
mr. kim.
Mukul,
System will allow you to save provided there are no gaps in other fiscal years. Check if you have specified the correct periods for fiscal year 2013 (part of it will be in calendar year 2013 and the rest in calendar year 2014). the screenshot that I have provided earlier was only for 2013; you will also need to make changes in 2014. I would recommend deleting the old variant and creating a new one with these changes.
Thanks,
Avinash
