Data not passed when triggering BPM through Restful Service

Hi,

I am following the blog to start a new Process Instance using the BPM RESTful service

http://scn.sap.com/community/bpm/blog/2011/11/14/getting-started-with-the-restful-service-for-netweaver-bpm

Method

POST

URL (relative)

…/bpm/bpemservices/processstartevents/<processstarteventid>

Request Header

Authorization

<According to your settings>

Content-type

application/xml

Accept

application/xml

Request Body

<DataObject type= "http://www.example.org/Test/#+NewOperation"><property><name>XYZ</name><value>abc</value></property></DataObject>

The process is getting triggered but the DataObject value is not passed to the Process.It shows the value as null.

I have just replaced the <type> tags with the <value> for each of the <property> in the DataObject.

But still I am not able to see the values passed to the DataNode of the BPM.

I am able to update the values for the DataObject while claim and completing the Request.

Kindly let me know on how to resolve the issue.

Thanks

Akshaya

    Hi Akshaya,

    if the process instance gets created, it does not look like a problem with the REST service. Maybe the problem is that the data mapping from the start event to the data objects of the process is missing.

    In order to validate this, you might try to create a process instance via the process repository in NWA.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

      Hi Stefan,

      I have used the xml format for starting the Process.

      Content-type

      application/xml

      Accept

      application/xml

      <DataObject type="http://www.example.org/LeaveRequest/#+NewOperation">

      <property>

      <name>FromDate</name>

      <type>commonj.sdo#YearMonthDay</type>

      </property>

      <property>

      <name>ToDate</name>

      <type>commonj.sdo#YearMonthDay</type>

      </property>

      <property>

      <name>Reason</name>

      <type>commonj.sdo#String</type>

      </property>

      <property>

      <name>NoOfDays</name>

      <type>commonj.sdo#Int</type>

      </property>

      <property>

      <name>requestId</name>

      <type>commonj.sdo#Int</type>

      </property>

      </DataObject>

      I replaced the <type> tags with <value> tag

      <?xml version="1.0" ?><DataObject type= "http://www.example.org/LeaveRequest/#+NewOperation"><property><name>FromDate</name><value>2012-08-03</value></property><property><name> ToDate </name><value>2012-08-04</value></property><property><name> Reason </name><value> Test </value></property><property><name> NoOfDays </name><value>12</value></property><property><name> requestId </name><value>22</value></property></DataObject>

      I tried passing all kind of date format 8/1/2012 and 2011-03-08T18:30:00.000 etc.

      But still the same problem.The values not getting passed.

      Regards

      Akshaya
