Notification Type Category

Dear SAP Gurus and Expert,

Would like to seek for your consult and advise whetehr the Notification Type Catergory can be added at the Start/ End Date section as a drop down list. The Notification Type Catergory consisits of:-

1. Preventive Maintenance

2. Schedule Maintenance

3. Corrective Maintenance

4. Break Down Maintenance

5. Event/ Function/ Project

6. New equipement/ Installation

7. Termination/ Disconnection

8. Replacement/ Relocation

9. Fabrication

To have a better understanding of how the notification type category should be located in the notification, kindly refer to the print screen as in the attachment.

Hi Leonard,

Typically there has to be different notification type for each of the items listed by you. If you are using single notification for all this but still want to differentiate them then you can use Coding field in

Screen 'Subject'. Values for this field are also customisable using catalogs.

This can avoid additional enhancement for your project.

My question was why you want to have only one notification type.

Purpose of different notification type is to differentiate the type of work requested & for authorisation purpose.

In QS41, you have option to define the coding. I couldn't remember code category. Mention your types in that coding part. Assign that to your notification type. Then you will get the same screen as shown by Mr. Talanki.

Hi Leonard,

Configure and bring screen area 032 for notification type using node screen structure for extended view.

Also configure Catalog type for field coding using node "Catalogs and Catalog profiles". Then in QS41 add required codes for catalog  'D'.

I have manage to add in the catalogue at the Subject Section, however can you guide me through how to maintain the selection data in the drop downlist so that the selection can show as the selection value below:-

Preventive Maintenance

Schedule Maintenance

Corrective Maintenance

Break Down Maintenance

Event / Function / Project

New equipment / Installation

Termination / Disconnection

Replacement / Relocation

Fabrication

In QS41, mention D-Coding. There you can maintain your list. Create Catalog profile in OQN6. There you mention your code group which you created in QS41.

Would like to check with you whether the coding catalog can only show one text box instead of 2??

As shown in the print screen, user is asking whether one text box is to be shown only as circled in red color instead of 2 text box.

With reference to my previous post, once text box will show the coding code (PRMN) & next text box will show the short text of that code (Preventive Maintenance).

User is requesting to show one text box only and may be I can use the catelogue group as the selection criteria but how to get rid of the next text box? please advise as user want to have it like shown in the print screen below.

One text box is for code (which will show the code) & next one is for Description (short text). You can't hide code field as its compulsory for selecting the code. If you hide description, you can not understand what has been selected with only code.
