Lakshmi,

One of the biggest difference with Edge is that you FULL suite of tools (Crystal, Dashboard, WebI, Mobile, Analysis for OLAP, ...) but it is limited to 200-250 users on ONE server.  With the size of hardware now you could easily purchase a Super server to do your complete BI solution.  Imagine your small to mid-size company can now compete with the big boys with very small $25,000 to $30,000 investment , estimated 10 users EDGE.

EDGE Summary:

Negative:

- Sold to mid market customer with under 300Mil Revenue

- MUST be installed on ONE server, no clustering

- If purchase Edge DI then can split Data Services on ONE server and BI Suite of another Server

- limited to 200-250 users max

- Can't convert existing BOBJ Professional &/or Premium keys to EDGE

Positives:

- You get FULL suite of BI tools, amazing deal

- You can start small and grow your BI deployments as your company &/or needs grows

- You can convert EDGE to Professional &/or Premium license if your company grows.

- Your ONE server can be any size ( example: 8-CPU's with 64Gigs of Memory)

Sold as:

- Edge BI

- Edge DI ( Sold with Data Services, amazing deal for you $$).

Standard BOBJ sold in Professional or Premium versions.

Edge is the version of SAP BusinessObjects suite that is for small and medium size companies with smaller budget. The software is to be installed on a single server and is not scalable.

Hope this helps.
