Hi Guys,
I'm doing an upgrade from R3 4.7 enterprise to ECC 6.0 EHP5.
I'm in downtime step at STARTSAP_NBAS phase, but sap doesnt start. Dispatcher start and stop immediately.
SAPup.ECO shows the follow erros:
J:\usr\sap\DEV\DVEBMGS02\exe\startsap.exe=>sapparam: "DIR_PROFILE": must not be in "\\srvsap\sapmnt\DEV\SYS\profile\DEFAULT.PFL"
STARTSAP failed
Details are written to H:\upgr\abap\tmp\startDEV.log
Process with ID 57792 terminated with status -1
And startDEV.log:

In order to avoid the access denied message please try the following
workaround:
You can check which user is starting the SAP service SAP<sid>_<inst num> and add
it to the local administrator group and reboot Windows.
This is usually SAPService<sid> user.

Could you post the contents of the mentioned
H:\upgr\abap\tmp\startDEV.log
If you have an ASCS instance which is down at present, can you try to start it manualy then repeat this phase.
As Juan, has mentioned you could also try
comment out DIR_PROFILE from default profile in
\srvsap\sapmnt\DEV\SYS\profile\DEFAULT.PFL
use the # character to comment it out
Use notepad to open profile and add # character then try to start
the service manually
Let us know if issues persist.

I see the error in dev_w0

This is a OS memory-setting problem. The NT pagefile did not have enough
contiguous space to allocate 2044MB and the system could not startup.
The possible reasons could be:
- fragmented page files -> not possible to allocate one contigious
segment or already allocated memory segments
- insufficient system resources: you should check if you have run
any antivirus software and OS cache settings
Solution:
Rebooting or allocating more space for the pagefile would be the
two immediate solutions.
There may exist too small swap size so that the system cannot
create a new mapping file.
Following Notes are related to memeory settings:
153641 - Swap space requirement for R/3 64-bit kernel
129813 - NT: Problems due to address space fragmentation
88416 - Zero administration memory management for the ABAP server

The error seems to be with extended memory allocation

Please adjust the PHYS_MEMSIZE parameter which should be the total virtual memory allocated to the SAP instance. Increase the swap space if you have insufficient physical memory.
How much of swap space is configured and how much of physical ram do you have ?
Also does the Database run in the same host ??
