Error in MAIN_NEWBAS/STARTSAP_NBAS SAP ECC 6.0 EHP5

Hi Guys,

I'm doing an upgrade from R3 4.7 enterprise to ECC 6.0 EHP5.

I'm in downtime step at STARTSAP_NBAS phase, but sap doesnt start. Dispatcher start and stop immediately.

SAPup.ECO shows the follow erros:

J:\usr\sap\DEV\DVEBMGS02\exe\startsap.exe=>sapparam: "DIR_PROFILE": must not be in "\\srvsap\sapmnt\DEV\SYS\profile\DEFAULT.PFL"

STARTSAP failed

Details are written to H:\upgr\abap\tmp\startDEV.log

Process with ID 57792 terminated with status -1

And startDEV.log:

running J:\usr\sap\DEV\DVEBMGS02\exe\sapstart.exe name=DEV nr=02 SAPDIAHOST=srvsap -wait

SAPSTART finished successfully on srvsap_DEV_02, but at least one process doesn't run correctly:

Impromptu CCC initialization by 'rscpCInit'.

  See SAP note 1266393.

I've seen the note but no correction there.

Try to start sap manually doesnt work, I've checked profiles and i think everything is ok.

Notes:

OS - Windows 2008

DB - Oracle11.2

    Hi All,

    I have:

    Swap - 32 GB

    RAM - 32 GB

    Parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE = 25% at shadow instance.

    Database is in the same machine.

    • It seems the main instance is running with 720 kernel now and the shadow instance is not up .

      So request you to increase the PHYS_MEMSIZE to a value of 20 GB , that should be good enough.

      Then start the upgrade .

    Hi MM,

    Could you post the contents of the mentioned

    H:\upgr\abap\tmp\startDEV.log

    If you have an ASCS instance which is down at present, can you try to start it manualy then repeat this phase.

    As Juan, has mentioned you could also try

    comment out DIR_PROFILE from default profile in
    \srvsap\sapmnt\DEV\SYS\profile\DEFAULT.PFL

    use the # character to comment it out

    Use notepad to open profile and add # character then try to start
    the service manually

    Let us know if issues persist.

    sapparam: "DIR_PROFILE": must not be in "\\srvsap\sapmnt\DEV\SYS\profile\DEFAULT.PFL"

    Did you check and/or try removing the parameter?

    Also, can you check dev_disp and dev_w0 for errors and post them here?

    • The error seems to be with extended memory allocation

      Please adjust the PHYS_MEMSIZE parameter which should be the total virtual memory allocated to the SAP instance. Increase the swap space if you have insufficient physical memory.

      How much of swap space is configured and how much of physical ram do you have ?

      Also does the Database run in the same host ??

      In order to avoid the access denied message please try the following
      workaround:

      You can check which user is starting the SAP service SAP<sid>_<inst num> and add
      it to the local administrator group and reboot Windows.
      This is usually SAPService<sid> user.
