Will memory upgrade improve performance of content player in portal ?

Hi,

We have recently implemented SAP LSO 600 in our portal (EP 7), deployed LSOCP 604.

Our current production portal has 4 app servers and one database instance and every instance has 8GB memory.

Please advise if we increase the memory from 8GB to 16GB will the performance of content player improves ? If so can you refer to any documents which has few data points on this scenario.

If it is not, let me know if there are any other ways to improve the performance of content player .

Thanks,

Sanketh.

    Hi Sanketh,

Im afraid I cant find a definite answer but check the following thread:

    http://scn.sap.com/thread/1913454

    especially the section:

    "

SAP come up with new idea called content caching in EHP2.

To enable content caching follow this note. https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1352233

    and https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/746917

Make sure you copy the xml file to all the server nodes. If not caching will not be in effect.

My experience with CP Caching, huge memory consumption in J2EE, but very good response times. Also enable the KM Caching.

    "

This suggests that content cachwould greatly increase performance but would also need more memory.

Hope this is of some help.

    Paul
