Time dependent Attributes end date

Former Member

Hi ,

In ECC system for company codes we have time dependent attributes with chronological order. We do have the attributes values changing for the same company code over a period of time. Now when i update these values in BI, i see that end date for each of the record is 31.12.9999. If any of the records has end date other than 31.12.9999 it is not displaying?

And if you want to have the historical values in BI for time dependent attributes whether we can maintain the same in BI? if yes, how we are going to mainatin as end date is always 31.12.9999

Thanks in Advance

By default time-dep master data will generate the last default range with dateto 31.12.9999.

you can include one flag field in the data flow and populate it with a value for the original records coming from source . Then in the reports, you can just restrict the queries with this field to see the correct info.

For historical data, you can either load to BW using a flat file or maintain it manually if you have only few records to be maintained.

Hope it helps,

Hi Simran,

This is the general behavior of time-dependent master data.

For eg, If you have a master data which is time-dependent, the DATE_FROM and DATE_TO values will be 01.01.1000 and 31.12.9999 respectively.

If the same master data is loaded today, we will get two records with DATE_FROM and DATE_TO fields as  01.01.1000 - 08.08.2012 (for initial value) and 08.08.2012 - 31.12.9999 (for latter master data value) respectively.

Thanks for your answers:

I have the following in PSA Table for one of the company code:

Company code          Valid from          Valid to

3000                         01.01.2011          31.12.2011

3000                         01.01.2012          31.07.2012

When i schedule DTP i am getting only the second record:

Company code          Valid from          Valid to

3000                         01.01.2012          31.07.2012

I am wondering why i am not getting the first record...As u were saying i am not even getting the default end date 31.12.9999.  ....

Pls suggest what could be the reason. In DTP i have selected the check box handle duplicate records

Hi Simran,

If you want to view all the time-dependent master data, view them in Q-table, instead of master data table.

Thanks Harish,

But i do not find any Q table as such. I have M table as well as P table but not Q though the IO is time dependent.

Our BI system has release 730 level 006.

hI,

gO TO T-CODE SE11.

/BIC/0 FOLLOWED BY YOUR TIME DEPENDENT INFOOBJECT.

If your infoobject is time dependent then it should have the Q table.

Thanks,

Hi Simran,

If your infoobject is time-dependent, it will have q-table instead of p-table.

Hi Sriram,

In your case Company code having so many attributes but Whatever the attributes having time-Depent check those attribute values  changes, you will get new record for the company, otherwise it will overwrite.

Thanks,
