How to put a check on BOM deviation for qty or number of vehicles backflushed

Hi ,

My issue is as follows:

There is a Finished assembly bom;which has several components.Now due to nonavailability of one component; the business decides to use some alternative component only for backflushing 10 vehicles; not more than that.

What exactly happens user creates a change number and assign it to bom replacing the old component.

Now when backflushing happens due to lack of communication or else issues user backflush more than 10 qty for that bom with new part.

So user wants there shoukld be some check on this that if  a deviation is set on a part than in should be qty wise.

That after x number of qty backflushed it will give error.or else.

Please suggest any such method to carry out this; or implement this.

Hi Nipurn,

But in that case why you change BOM directly... you can enter that new item/material for a particular lot/quantity during Backflushing only.

BOM changes will have impact on regular process.. coz this new item/material addition is just a fix for a lot. You can directly replace new item with old one.

Now regarding restriction on backflush, how would you know after how much qty you want to throw error message... there is no data related to it has saved in SAP. You need to collate all relevant information on this process and then decide if can overcome by having some enhancement in SAP.

HI Anup,

Actually the backflushing is done through some z developed programme and the screen of backflushing is not visible to users(process happens in background).So i can't suggest that way.

I was thinking isn't there some check on qty basis for backflush; for a particular change number.

likewise when we assign change number  to a bom then it asks for validity period; similarly isn't there something based on qty basis.

But still I'm really not convinced that just for few vehicles backflushing you're following complete change number process... coz again after those few vehicles backflushing is done, you would be changing BOM with original component... it would additional unncessary change document creation.

Anyways.. to think of any other solution, could you please confirm if you're into REM process?

Dear Nipurn,

               Kindly add alternative material in BOM as an alternative item. Example is given below:

In Production run one item can be used at a time. It can be item A or Item B.

Item A           Quantity  01          Unit Ea

Item B           Quantity  01          Unit Ea

and goto item detail of Item A and in Basic data tab > maintain altItemGroup>01> and fill child screen Priority 01> Strategy 02 and usage probability 100%

and similarly do same for item and here priority > 02 and usage probability > 0

and in production order change mode just change usage probability from 100% to 90% for item A and Item B 10% these figure base on 100 quantity of production order.

Kindly check and revert back.
