Can I remove BI Services Caching

Former Member

dear all,

i am trying to run an operational reporting feed into a BI Service, to be consumed by an xcelsius dashboard. but i am getting stuck on the BI Service refreshing the correct data.

the data originates in ECC, as a transient provider.

a query sits over the transient provider.

the webi sits over the query.

my webi component published as a BI Service works fine as soon as i created it.

however, when i update my table in ECC, and perform a test of the BI Service, it still retrieves the older value, and not the recently updated one.

i feel there is some caching occurring, but i dont know where to look.

i have played around with the webi server cache options, but not worth mentioning here as i am open to suggestion, from the very beginning.

thanks in advanced

Hi Glen,

A couple of questions..

What version of BOE and patch level are you on?

Is the WebI component refreshing correctly?  Or is it the Dashboard that's not showing the updated value?

Thanks,

Carly

hello carly,

XI3.1 SP5

and no, the WebI does not refresh correctly, so we can remove the dashboard component for now.

and neither does the BI Service.

actually, i think the BI Service and WebI appear to work independently, if that is even possible.

note: there are no instantiations of the WebI.

Glen, I understand that this workflow is not supported,  BI Services refreshed through WebI cannot be consumed by dashboards because the refresh in this case is not triggered.

You should use either a LiveOffice connection or a normal Webi document

hi simone, the BI Service feed currently works and i have noticed it will refresh with the REFRESH parameter set to TRUE, every 10 minutes. i think i read somewhere that this can be changed or set to 0, somewhere ?
