Hi All,

I want to configure LDAP in Portal 7.3 EhP1 with MS Active Directory for UME configuration.

In Portal 7.0 version this can be done in UME configuration, but there is no such feature of LDAP in UME configuration in Portal 7.31 system

I want to know how LDAP can be configure for MS ADS in Portal 7.31 system.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Hanif

in 7.31 version also, you can configure the UME to point to an LDAP. depending on that LDAP heirarchy (deep or flat), you select the appropriate xml datasource file.

See this link for details

Hi Sandip,

Thanks for the reply !!

To configure LDAP in portal need to navigate in System-Administration in UME Administration is available.

But in SAP Poral 7.3 Ehp1 system there is no such tab of LDAP in UME Configuration.

Let me know is there any other alternative to configure LDAP for MS ADS mite be in NWA.

Hi Hanif,

What has happened is that during installation,I guess you selected ABAP as the
UME. This is the reason.
Now trying to change the datasource from ABAP to LDAP can cause issues.
Please do go through the below guide completely (espacially the part
UME Change From ABAP To LDAP):

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/
c06489af-883f-2f10-318c-db80892b7c75

If the engine is newly installed (no role assignements are done), you can:
1)
First change the datasource to database and create the "Administrator"
and the guest user in the DB.
2)
Then change the datasource to LDAP using the link:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/12/7678123c96814bada2c8632d
825443/frameset.htm
3)
Restart the engine.

There may be issues when you are creating users in the DB and the best
option if the server has not gone live, is to reinstall
again and select LDAP when the SAPINST option asks for datasource as
mentioned in the SDN link I wrote above.

First you need to click on modify config under UME configuration

then select the Data source under Data Sources Tab, select the desired LDAP server..then only the LDAP server tab would be visible..

what are the other optiion you see in the dropdown?

Which LDAP do you want to connect? MS, Novell or something??

Select the vendor LDAP XML file, see if you get the Tab

Hi Sandeep,

As shown below, I am not able to view any LDAP tab....

I doubt whether any component is missing in the system?

I am taking the XMl file dataSourceConfiguration_ads_readonly_db_with_krb5_MDT_2.xml

As i want to connect MS Active directory system to portal for LDAP configuration

During installation, what was the UME datasource selected?

If it was ABAP, then its hard to change the datasource from ABAP to anything else. All your UME data will be lost..

Is it a fresh installation or an already configured system with contents/users etc

HI,

As you can see I have taken Java Database rather External ABAp databse.

And for your information this is fresh instalaltion which I have done.

Thats bit strange...Ok then, you change the LDAP datasource from Config tool itself..

Steps -

Configitool - UME LDAP Source - adjust the config xml file

See this help document on detailed steps

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c06489af-883f-2f10-318c-db80892b7...

Hi Hanif,

I have the same problem in Portal 7.31. There is no  LDAP in UME configuration in portal 7.31.

How did you configure connection from UME to LDAP server?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Reza,

Provided you are currently running your Portal under UME datasource, you may switch to using LDAP via the configtool application.
