Hi,

I am using SAP BO 4.0, working on webi reports.

I have a problem ,my webi runs very slow, it takes around 2-3 mins to open then also if i click on the window it hangs. For making any small change it takes 2-3 mins .Its really testing my patience. Its working like that from starting <working for last 3 months>

Please let me know what can be the issue for this behavior and also any resolution for the same.

Regards,

Javed

Webi is extremely slow when using the Java viewer (also known as the Rich Internet Application viewer, and now in BI 4.1, "Applet Viewer"). Even on perfectly sized deployments, the Java viewer is the bottleneck.

The HTML / Web viewer is the best viewer choice in most situations. It has its shortcomings and is not quite as complete as the Java viewer, but it does work perfectly for 95% of users. And its FAST. Something that the Java viewer is NOT.

Why is the Java viewer so slow? No clue. Can we please have a new Service Pack to improve Webi report load times? That seems so basic.

there are many factors that can play in this, starting from proper Sizing, proper tuning of APS and WPS servers to configuration of Java app server used, network between BI servers and data sources and even report design.

This sort of question have been asked before in this forums, there are also SAP KB articles on sizing, performance and other areas that are part of this question.

This information is not SAP specific, you should be able to find it here :

tomcat.apache.org

APS monitoring can be done thru built in Monitoring tools - see Admin guide

Hi Denis,

We're facing slowness when changing data source in WebI report. After clicking "Finish" button window got freeze. Specially this behavior observed in report with more then 2 data sources. Any help will be appreciated.

This can be related to the size of your universe because Webi needs to check each object in your query/queries for corresponding objects in your new universe. How many objects are there in each universe?
