Can anyone provide any advice on what the impact could be of deleting BP records and their associated service tickets?

No individual BP or group of BP's / Transaction can be archived using the Tcode SARA

If someone ever try to fetch the historical data then it will not be complete, the other transactions associated with those BP will show an error.
Instead of deleting the BP i suggest archive them.
