good morning all,
i want to make sure i am reading this right, but i do not think i can connect to a mssql server (2008) from sap if sap is using unix.
1601608 - How to access an external Microsoft SQL Server database
Remark:
If your system comprises solely of ABAP stack-based servers running on Unix / Linux platforms you can neither use UDConnect nor DBCON. Why? Because UDConnect requires at least one Java-stack based SAP Application Server (regardless of the operating system) and DBCON requires at least one Windows-based SAP Application Server.
if this is the case, how would a company connect to a sql server and extract data?
thx,
Erik

Hi Erik
I think you are in the wrong forum my friend,
Try posting this to the Basis guru's and you might get an answer to your problem.

thanks vic, but this needs to be setup for use in abap. i have also searched on this issue in scn and have found that dbco is often asked in this forum. this is directly related to dbco.
i have copied this question to the basis area (sap netweaver application server). i would have thought that basis would be a good name, but i guess not.
thx,
erik

I guess the term "Basis" is outdated, just like "R/3" for example. Since you opened a new discussion in a more appropriate space, I will lock this one (no cross-posting allowed...).
