Parallel routing selection

Dear PP experts,

I have two work centres i.e.

And available capacities are WC1, WC2,

Capacity of each work centre is 50 Tonnes per day

In a routing, if I have maintained normal sequence & parallel sequence i.e.

Normal sequence:

Operation10 WC1 -> Operation20

Parallel sequence is:

Operation 10 WC1

| -> Operation 20

Operation 10 WC2

Now i create a

Production order:-

Required quantity: 100 Tonnes.

Finish date is: Aug 3, 2012

Start date is: Aug 2, 2012

When we are going to run MRP, whether system will automatically select the parallel sequence instead of normal sequence considering the requriement date?

If yes, then how?

Regards,

Pankaj Saini

    Dear Pankaj,

    One example below, i tested it and found, even though we maintain parallel sequence along with standard sequence, MRP will not divide the time or quantity between operations, It considers same time between similar operations of std and parallel sequences. Only during confirmation you can enter actual time with dividing between the sequences.

    I tried for material and created order for 2 EA quantity. I maintained 2 sequences, 1 - stfd and has 3 operations and sequnce 2 which is parallele sequence in which i am branching at 0020 operation and rejoining at 0030. Time for machine and labor 10 mins each at operation 0020.

    Planned order generated and see detailed scheduling of planned order below.

    Also if you observe the operation 20 of sequence 1 is in line with sequence 0 , operation 0020.

    So MRP will not help to devide the hours or quantity, but it plans or schedules the operation time in line as shown.

    Best regards,

    Sharat

    Dear Pankaj,

    In my understanding the system schedules the operations included in the standard sequence and as

    well as that are included in the parallel sequence.You can cross check this once after carrying out the

    lead time scheduling(scheduling type - MRP control parameter),click on the planned order details and

    check in the scheduling tab in MD13 for the operation timings.

    Check and revert back.
