Looping logon when trying to connect to EP from VC

After the successful installation of VC6 SP3 and SAP EP6 SP10 I am facing the following issue:

I enter the portal URL in the connection block of VC and click on the traffic light. A new browser window pops up and asks for the appropriate logon credentials. After entering them I get presented with the same logon page >> looping logon. Entering logon credentials that are wrong returns an error message as expected. Can anyone point me into the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

Found a post that helped me resolve the issue:

I can not tell if you solved you initial problem of not being able to connect to the portal through Visual Composer.

    If not Try the following:

    1. click on the Tools menu of your internet Explorer.

    2. Go to Internet options.

    3. Click on Security Tab and click on Trusted Sites

    4. Enter the URL of your portal as a trusted site.(http://<yourserver>:<port number>/irj). If you are not using ssl at this point, make sure that you uncheck the "Require server verification" checkbox.

    I hope this helps.
