Hi Experts,
I am using Crystal reports 2008 SP3 and BO 3.1 SP3 in my project. I designed the report using ECC system as data source, in that i used the tables. In my report while designing i used the static parameters. Now i want to change it dynamic. After changing to Dynamic,
When saving a Crystal report with a dynamic parameter to an Enterprise folder the following error appears and the save action fails:
"Failed to read data from report file. C:\...report.rpt. Reason: failed to read parameter object."
Thanks,
V.S.Chandra.
Hi Chandra,
When you converted the Static parameter to Dynamic parameter and trying to save the report on the enterprise then there is one more thing that comes in the picture and that is Business View Manager (BVM).
Well, when a crystal Report is saved on the enterprise then some repository objects gets created for your Dynamic parameter in BVM (Such as Data Connection, Data Foundation, Business Element, Business View and then the LOV a.k.a dynamic parameter).
Now in order to get these objects created automatically, a user needs to have all the neccessary rights on those objects and on the parent folder in BVM.
One suggestion on this post is to, try and save the Crystal Reports to the enterprise using Administrator credentials. If you are able to save the report on the enterprise then I guess the user with which you are trying to save the report doesn't have all the neccessary right (View right, Edit right and Set Security right) in BVM either on the Obejct level or on the folder level.
Hope this would be of an help to you .
