EhP8 Upgrade - Avoid non-SAP object loss

We are commencing with EhP8 upgrade on our ECC system.
As this is a load based upgrade procedure (i.e. Shadow system is created from scratch containing repository of the new release), we need to run an ABAP report to avoid any object loss as per the note,
2318321 - Differences in SUM for the rescue of Non-SAP objects between load and delta procedure

I see from the note, that the program can be executed in stand alone mode as well as during SUM upgrade.
1) The log file generated in Stand Alone mode (saved in DIR_TRANS/tmp/), how will it be utilized in RUN_RDDIT006 phase? Would SUM prompt for this?
2) How to generate the log file in SUM mode (saved in DIR_PUT/tmp/)?
As I see from the note this check will be added as a separate phase in the Upgrade procedure with a future SUM version.

Dear Abhijeet,

we currently are processing the Upgrade of the EHP8 and are facing major issues with the loss of objects. While running the mentioned report we more than 100 Object are identified. Also we realised that unfortunately not all objects are identified by this report which is a serious issue for us. Where you able to finish your upgrade and save all objects successfully?

SAP released SUM 1.0 SP19 PL2 now and it was mentioned from SAP that you'll now get prompted within SUM when an object would get lost. We now need to start from scratch so we haven't tested this new version yet. Hope to get some good news on monday

Best regards

Dear Oliver,

We have also noticed that SAP report is not identifying all non-sap objects. We could see huge list of non-sap objects which are not part of the report. Did you manage to save all non-sap objects? Can you share your experience.

Hi Oliver,

Apologies for the delayed response. We were massively delayed with the EhP8 upgrade (not related to the loss of objects) and managed to upgrade our Sandbox system recently.

We ran into quite a few issues in SPDD and SPAU phases due to non-SAP object loss.

Furthermore, we noticed that quite a few business functions are activated by the DDIC user as part of the upgrade process. I have an OSS raised for this, but this is a bit of a concern too.

Any update on your upgrade with SUM 1.0 SP19 PL2.
