SAPHOSTAGENT - upgrade-phase UPD_HOSTAGENT

Dear All,

During configuration stage I am getting below message to install SAPAGENTHOST.

"We recommend the installation of the SAPHOSTAGENT package, nevertheless it is not required for the update.

For Windows platforms, the program provides an automatic installation procedure for SAP Hostagent."

I am running this test upgrade on windows 2003 (from SAP ERP 6 to EHP5). Final production and another test uprade will be on HP-UX 11.31.

It is required to install this agent. because upgrade tool is also give me option to skip installation. (as it is mention in message that "nevertheless it is not required for the update")

Thanks in advance,

Nirav

    Hi Nirav,

If you dont have SAPHOSTAGENTS installed in your system better to install it, because If your SAP system has an installed version of the SAPHOSTAGENT, the installation program performs an update of the SAPHOSTAGENT at the end of the Extraction roadmap step. If your SAP system has no SAPHOSTAGENT installed, you have to install it manually.

As of SAPNetWeaver 7.0 inlcuding enhancement package 2 it is mandatory to install the SAPHOSTAGENTpackage.

    Dear Nirav,

During UPD_HOSTAGENT phase the HostAgent is upgraded if it is installed in the system. If its not installed then following message appears in the upgrade tool:

"Skip host agent upgrade. The SAPHOSTAGENT package is not available."

Also if you want to install them then you can do so too.

    Best Regards,

    Abhishek
