Hi all,
I am facing issues with the client tool of BO 4.0 SP2. I tried installing multiple times on windows xp sp3.
It was installing successfully but when I try to open webi Richclient it shows error.
Want to make sure, whether it works on Windows XP SP3 and I am installed only BO 4.0 SP2 with no patches.
Hi Usha,
BusinessObjects BI server components only support 64-bit operating systems. And Windows XP not compatible for BO 4.0 SP2. You need to have Windows Server 2003/Windows Server 2003 R2/Windows Server 2008/Windows Server 2008 R2.
Please let me know if you need any more clarification. Also you can check the Product Availability Matrix for the compatibility issues.
Thanks,
Murali.

Want to make and be more clear on the issue.
Here is my scenario, I am facing from last 5 days.
-- Trying to install Business Objects 4.0 SP2 client tools on Windows XP Professional version 2002 Service Pack 3
-- It is installing successfully with no error and even I can see the pre-requisite screen.
--- When I am trying to open Information Design tool and Web Intelligence Rich Client then I see 2 different error for each.
-- Information Design Tool: I resolved the error by editing the size to 256 in the .Ini file.... But When I try to create connection .. I see only the JDBC drivers for each.
--- Webi Rich client: When I try open the tool, It says the error "The application failed to initialize properly ()xc0000005).Click on OK to terminate the application"
Looked lot of Notes and KB like 1638942, 1582170 . But no luck
Uninstalled all Microsoft C++ related in the control panel. Deleted the regfile in regedt32. But no luck.

My machine is on exact same OS (XP Professional 2002 SP3) and I have BO 4.0 SP02 client installed and it is working well.
Have you tried this on some other XP machine? Information Design Tool is based on Java (eclipse) and I don;t think it requires require VC++ anyway. And I guess Webi Rich client is based on Java applet too.
How about Universe Design Tool? Does it work? which version of JRE you run in your machine? Did you check the logging folder for additional information on the error?
