Optimization behaviour in EPM 10NW Version.

Hi Team,

As per SAP Document on optimization for EPM 10 NW Version,we tried to run both Lite and Full optimization but didn't find any difference in data behaviors???Do we need to modify any backend settings?

Does the Optimization move(Delete) the data physically from the Cube(Model) in BW?

Hi Naresh

The Lite optimize would close the open requests, compresses withour zero elimination and indexes the cube. (moves data from F to E Fact tables)

The Full optimize does what the Lite optimize does but it also essentially checks the BW Data model. It checks to see if the Dimension tables have grown larger than 20% of the fact table size. This happens typically when you have some line item dimension candidates in your cube (eg Doc. Nr). When this happens the system is taken offline, shadow cube created (with improved dimension table model), data copied to shadow cube and original one deleted and then the same steps as lite optimze are done and environment brought back online.

When you therefore have a situation where a shadow cube isnt created and a re-modeling not taking place, then you will find that the Full and Lite appear to be doing the same.
