Learning Links missing in ESS

Former Member

Hi,

We are on EHP6 and using ESS WDA2.

I could see all the links of ESS, but nothing related to Learning is available. In EHP5 there was a section Personnel Development of which "maintain Competencies" and "Learning" was part of it.

But post upgrade to EHP6, the entire Personnel Development section is missing.

Also, we are facing issue with Content player. we are using LSOCP 604 SP11. but still there is dump popping when loading the content.

For EHP6 which is the compatible Software component, is it LSOCP 604 or is it LSOCP 634.

Any idea on this. please advice.

Thanks

Pranitha C

In standard ESS WDA role content (both PFCG and launchpad) in EHP5 and EHP6 there is no learning related content is shipped and there is no folder called Personnel Development. I assume that you must have used your own launchpad customizing and added this content. Check your launchpad versions.

Hi Sagar,

Its true that we didnt find the LSO application in EHP5 too. But then, from one of presentations given by SAP, i had seen this screen shot and i was of the opinion that, may be we had missed out some configuration bcoz of which Personnel Development section went missing. This had 3 sub links. 1. Maintain Competencies. 2. Access your Learning. 3. Tuition Reimbursement.

Additionally, Under Talent Profile, One more link "Skills" under Talent Profile is not available, which is said to be part of EHP6 release. Where can find it?

And Regards to Learning, you mean to say that, LSO is still is Java and not in ABAP WDA and so we have to ship the earlier versions of LSO into EHP6?

Thanks

I cant comment on what you have seen in presentations. Many people do customized demos for ESS/MSS and they may have setup the demo system to include some learning content as well.

As of EHP6 the skills & profiles matchup application is integrated in Talent profile (career and development folder) and there is no standalone skills available anymore in WDA. In EHP5 this is not available but if MSS Add-on is installed then you can change the talent profile application following note 1679190.

Regarding learner applications you need to check the applications which are released as a part of business package for learner portal (BP ERP05 LEARNING 1.0). You can then decide if you include them in the ESS menu.

There was never a JAVA WD based BP for learner applications. It was based on BSP technology. Only content player parts are based on JAVA.

As of HR Renewal 1.0 product release LSO learner parts are available in WDA.

Regarding your other question: For EHP6 which is the compatible Software component, is it LSOCP 604 or is it LSOCP 634?

Answer: This depends on the portal/java version you are using. If you are using 7.30 based portal then you need LSOCP 634. This has nothing to do with backend version of EHP6.

Hi Sagar,

I agree what u said on the demo thing.

I understand that skills & profile matchup should be visible in the ESS Talent Profile screen. but some how this link is not visible. We searched in Launchpad too. any prequisite step should considered for ? Earlier when were using EHP5, we had the MSS Addon 1.0 aswell. May be that was the reason why we were able to see the Skills & Profile matchup link.

But post upgrade to EHP6, its no more visible. and we are still using MSS addon.

Regards, Learner, after ur suggestion, we are taking the BP Learning 1.0 and placing them in our application environment.

Withrespect to version, with ur suggestion, we are upgrading to LSO634 as we are using NW7.3

Thanks a lot for the very useful information u shared.

As I stated earlier the skills/profile matchup was never part of standard delivery. Even with MSS Add-on Skills was visible only in MSS pages (read-only). If you had to include it in ESS then you should have followed note 1679190. This was not part of ESS EHP5 delivery.

With EHP6 the skills was integrated in talent profile. You should activate the business function HCM_ESS_WDA_2. With that this should be visible in the SAP version of launchpad.

If you have created your own launchpad then you must adjust the changes. The entries for talent profile is under career & development folder.

If skills is not visible in your EHP6 system then check if you are using application HRTMC_EMPLOYEE_PROFILE with configuration HRTMC_EMPLOYEE_PROFILE_ESS_703.

Skills tab is added in component configuration HRTMC_EP_OIF_703.

The BF is already active.

Regards the Application, yes we are using HRTMC_EMPLOYEE_PROFILE with the Configuration HRTMC_EMPLOYEE_PROFILE_ESS_703. We tried adding the component HRTMC_EP_OIF_703 in the configuration, but its failing.

Pls suggest how and where can i add this.

If you are using new application configuration HRTMC_EMPLOYEE_PROFILE_ESS_703 then you should be able to see a "Qualifications" tab when you launch application.

Can you  check and see if this is visible? Also check by using technical help on webdynpro application if correct config is launched.

BTW, in you launchpad you have set some strange application alias.

🙂 That strange thing is the result of our tremendous R&D.

Anyway, taking the alias off coz, with your suggestions, I was able to figure out the application.

Thank You

Hi Sagar,

We have upgraded to LSOCP 634 still the error we are facing persisted. Raised OSS and SAP has given temporary solution which Basis has implemented for now.

But later we noticed that Content player setup we had done earlier during EHP5 has vanished post upgrade to EHP6.

Unsure if everytime we upgrade the system, have we to Install and configure Content player?

Can you advice?

Regards

Hi Sagar,

Can you please let me know if Application tab "Development Plan" available for employee through ESS Talent Profile or is it available only to Manager?

Also, Can Manager add trainings to employee from training Activity section of "Talent Profile" from MSS or is this screen only for display?

Hi,

One more doubt....

Using the Print option for Talent profile, the so generated PDF is NOT displaying employee's photo, but could see that there is space given for Photo.

Is this a bug or do we have to activate anything additionally for the photo to be displayed?
