Adding new material groups, what are the dependencies?

Hello,

I want to add new material gorup (spro-Logistics - General - Material Master-Settings for Key Fields-Define Material Groups). I now it is not complicated but before I add new group I would like to now the following:

- Are there any dependencies on which I should pay attention or I can simply add new material group using transaction OMSF without any risk?
- I first have to do it and DEV, create request and then transport it to QAS and PRD same as any other similar change on DEV?

Many thanks in advance.
Sam

Hi,

1. There are two dependencies available in the same transaction

a. Can create authorization groups for this material group and assign it to user data, so that only a certain group can have access to this. If this is not required then leave the field as blank.

b. Also, you can assign a default unit of weight, in which case if the material master while creation is not assigned to any Weight Unit then the system will suggest this.

Other than these there are no other controlling factors.

2. Yes, you should transport these using a Customizing Transport Request to QAS and PRD from DEV systems.

Hello Manoj,

Thank you very much for streight and helpeful reply!

Since I am not sure whata authorization groups and default unit of weight should be defined exactly, I will create new material group by copying some similar (already created material gruoup), Perhaps this would be best solution in my case?

Thanks in advance for advice.

Hi,

If you do not want any restrictions in the material group, please go ahead and create as mentioned.

But let me know in case if you need any further details of the above mentioned.
