SAP BW short dumps

Hi,

Could some one tell me why the short dumps occurs in SAP BW system, will that happen in source system or in BW system also.

    Hi Manjunath,

    If an exception is caught during ABAP program execution, it'll result in short dumps and the details of the error is stored as logs and the ABAP program stops execution.

    These dumps occur in source system and BW system also. For source system, the dumps usually caused by database issues.

    In BW system these dumps occurs based on the exceptions like sql error, memory shortage, etc.,

      Hi

      1. Due to less resource's of any job will goto DUMP.

      2. Due to Huge volume of data in a single data packet will goto DUMP.

      3. Due to Timeout of job will goto DUMP.

      4. In Generic extraction for view and Function module , If the data volume will high, then it will goto DUMP, in FM u can mention the data packet size to avoid DUMP.

      5. Infopackage will goto DUMP in ECC, due to long time.
