Control WebI filter values

Hello,

In WebI 4.0 FP3 enviornment, we are using 2 drill filters used in the WebI report...one is for Employee Dept and the other Employee name...

Employee Dept Employee Name
Maintenance A
Maintenance B
Finance C
Finance D
Supply Chain E

When I pick dept Maintenance, then the drop down filter for Employee name should show only A and B (NOT ALL values). This way we can ensure that the user is not picking wrong combinations of filters that yields no results.

Is there a way I can acheive this by using input control or the report filter?

Any help will be great

Thank you
Ann

    Hi Ann

To my understanding , You have two hierarchies for dept name and emp name right ? so when you click on dept name you have to display corresponding emp names , and from those emp names ,you will drill to other hierarchie right ?

Then Make sure you maintain only one drill in report , it avoids confusing to user ,it not user have to select the drill prompt ,

Solution: Add the dept as input controller (radio button) and at the report level you will have corresponding emp names. From there you can drill to lower level.

if it is not helpful then explain in detail with and simple example, we help you 😊

let me know In case of any issues ,

    Thanks and regards

    Sunil

      Hi,

In my case, I have 2 drill filters, one for employee dept and other for employee name...so based on the example I gave above, the values for employee dept (drill filter) will display Maintenance, Finance and Supply Chain...whereas the values for employee name (drill filter) will be A, B, C, D & E.

When the user selects drill filter employee dept value Maintenance, then the employee name drill filter values should be reduced to A & B only. Similarly when the user selects drill filter employee dept value Supply Chain, then the employee name drill filter value should be reduced to E only. Hope this is clear.

      Appreciate any inputs.

      Thanks again
      Ann

    Hi Ann,

In Universe --> Tools--> List of values --> Cascading List of values. you just select the way the filters should come (this will show a tree format). then select the lowest tree node as prompt then you will see only that combination which has records.

    This should solve your issue.
