Material group changing after the creation of P.O

Hi,

I have creted a p.o with material group 123 and after that i want to change the material group in the P.O,system showing the material group feild as display mode.

Is it possible to change the material group after creation of P.O.

I have checked the screen layout for the purchase order doc.type against the field selection,but the material group field showing as optional entry.

Is any option is there to change the material group after creation of P.O.

Please advise.

Hi,

If a material exists in the PO, the material group is not changeable

any more with ME21N/ME22N. This is R/3 standard functionality.

The field material group is not influenced by the field settings in

customizing. The field is greyed out hardcoded for materials with a

material master.

The material group is used for linking to other tables and
is being used to determine other values. In order to keep data
consistent, it is not possible to make a standard change to program.

The material group is pulled in from the material master so the standard
way to change material group is to update the material master and then
create a new line item. You can also consider to update the material
group via BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST. You can refer the BADI
documentation (T-code : SE18) for more details.

simple way,  delate line item and create same  new one with another material group.
