Web Intelligence rich client too slow

Dear Friends,

I'm having issues with rich client 4.0 when starting the app and logging to the server, everything seems to go smoothly, but after selecting a universe, it takes +-1mn to see QueryPanel. I have tried installing SP04 but the issue remains and it did not help. I did change dynamics ports and assigned fixed ports to the servers and  all ports are allowed by firewall as far as our networking guys concerns, still after 1 mn I am able to connect but it seem not much to be happening on network trafic and CPU usage in this 1mn.

what patch level are you on? please be sure to be on SP02 + patch 2.6 minimum,  2.18 suggested, or SP04

please notice also that we noticed such delays in presence of some antivirus software, by declaring as safe the webi rich client the performance improved dramatically

Thnx for your reply,

As mentioned before, I'm currently on SP04 and no patches further.
Problem still remains after disabling our local Antivirus/Firewall.

Any other suggestion concerning this issue would be appreciated.

it seems that it has problems in the host resolution, try to add the host names  to the hosts file on the client side and try again

you may also wish to use a sniffer to see what is going on

You should also check the following:

is universe specific? 

how does behave with sample universes?

is user specific?

what happens with the administrator account?

check where the load is, client or server?

Thnx Simone for your reply,
I did check your mentioned points without success, except sniffer what currently is difficult because of our complex landscape and security policies, but I will do this very soon if issue not solved,

I tried a few more times on another machine from the same image, the first attempts did go well without delay but then my 3th or 4th attempts felt into 1min delay again.

Rich client stays using 25% (1core) of resources and doing nothing.
Network traffic on the server shows me no activities during this minute and after 1min you see the client attempting to connect.

Is there any chance that rich client not installed as it should or has been damaged and reinstalling it could help ?

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

you may wish to try reinstall the client tool however the messages in the trace logs point to some security issue preventing the client server dialog...

please check whether the CMS service has a declared request port and that port opened bidirectionally on the server and client, see the Administrator Guide for more details

Hi we are also facing very bad performance issues with Rich Client.

Can you please update us if you have solution.
