we need to put together a integration strategy documents to prepare standards like "what are the defferent types of integrations we may encounter and what is the suggested approach"..

      Hi Smith,

I am not sure whether you have any built-in documentation for this. But you can prepare one based on inputs .

      To start with.

      1. Integrations come under A2A or B2B.

      2. For any  interface where you need to create your own idoc, it will be preferred to use ABAP proxies rather than custom idoc.

      3. For any interface where SAP has provided standard idoc, it is recommended to use those rather than abap proxies.

      4. Limit that usage of Java UDF in the mapping and try to achive via inbuilt mapping functions.

      5. Usage of BPM should be minimal unless and otherwise required

      6.  All interface must have a Integration Scenario for better visibility and documentation to understand the process flow.

      7. Where in you need to go for custom adapter , look for longer term and not just for one project. Eg., EDI adapters, VAN AS2 etc.

      8. Try and use webservices with proper data modeling so that you can reuse the existing interfaces for all your requirements.

      Hope these helped a bit!
