Hi

My client use VC for finished and semi-finised products.Semi-finished products are procured outside.

I have  a question about multi-level configuration. We can configure different level of the configurable materials.Z_W_103 is a semi-finished product and will be procured outside.

While in purchase order,I am not able to see the second level characteristic. How to see it?Or I won't know whether it is correct or not..

Hello Monst,

Generally , to have it own characteristics you need to have a configurable component. otherwise it takes the configuration from the header material. In your case this is what happening, Purchase order is taking configuration from the header material. I believe you are creating a PO from sales order so the configuration should have been created from the sales order. Did you configure Component .Z_W_103 separetly. As to have its own configuration, Sales order should have its own configuration for the component. So please ensure you setup the configuration data in the sale order for the component or are you not able to configure the component in the sales order ?

Thanks

Amber

Hi,Amber:

    Actually,I configured my semi-finished material in VA01..

then run MD50 to generate planned order-->PR-->PO..Then I don't see these configuration in purchase order, instead,I see the top level configuration..

Ritesh:

The third screenshot is what I see in purchase order..I should see the semi-finished product configuration instead of the top level configuration...

Hi Monst,

when you are assigning values to finsih & semifinish material  there should be 2 CUOBJ generated and attached to this objects respectively , it seems in youir case semifinish material is picking CUOBJ of finished material and thats how configuration is getting copied from finished material.

please tell me step by step , of your configuration setup.

how many classes you have , is there any common characterstic between finished and semifinished material, how many configuration profiles you created , and setting withing this configuration profile.

please also check at plan order level what characterstic values are showing.

Thanks

Ritesh

hi,Ritesh:

I have two class ,one for finishd material anther is for semi-finished material.

    No common characteristic between them.

I create two configuration profiles ,each for finished/semi-finished material.

characteristics in planned order are the same as purchase order..

Hi Monst,

All the settings seems to be ok. Can you please check transaction CUTABLEINFO for your sales order. You should have two IBIN entries. One for the header and one for the component. To have your own configuration in purchase requisition you should have an independent entry for the compnent in table IBIN.

Thanks

Hi Monst,

is it possible for you to delete strategy group 56 and run a test ,as its a externaly procured material so it doesnt needs a strategy group.

I have run a test and it works fine when i have a setup a order BOM option in configuration profile for header material, but ia msure a plan orde ror order BOM doesnt make any difference , and it should work for you too.

so please remove strategy group and check result.

also as Amber suggest , check CUTABLEINFO, i am sure you will get a same CUOBJ being used in both materials.

Thanks

Ritesh

Hi Monst,

That seems strange as there are two IBIN entries, your purchase requisition should be picking up CUOBJ 11632 with the class. What support package are you on ? It seems that your purchase requisition is reading incorrect CUOBJ. Strategy group should not make a difference , it should work with value 56. Can you please debug the purchase requisition in MD04, set a breakpoint at FM VC_I_DISPLAY_CONFIGURATION and see what value is set in mdps-cuobj.

Thanks

thanks amber, I have tried that as well as tried wrestling with class items in the bom but i come up short.

I get KMAT B under KMAT A just fine, but the selection conditions for items under KMAT B are not pulling in the results when configuring KMAT A.  i thought this was due to syntax so i tried $root, $self, and $parent on KMAT B's materials and still do not see the part(s) pulled in results.

my other dilemma is triggering pricing for KMAT B when configuring KMAT A.

Hi,Amber:

I cann't belive it..The issue is fixed..Maybe it is due to MRP strategy..I don't know why yesterday I get the same ,even remove strategy in MRP view..

    Thanks very much..Amber.Ritesh...

Btw,If I create variant for this configurable material,I am not able to see the second configuration level in MRP 3view."Configure Variant"..I can only see the first level and there is no button to extend it.. How do you create variant for multi-level configurable material?

HI Monst,

varients are specific to material number so its will not work this way.

betetr cerate new thread and we can discuss possible options and work arounds.

Hi Monst,

Generally material variants are items of its own therefore they are not exploded. In MRP3 view , there is no explosion as it is material master transaction however you can make the explosion possible in sales orders or CU50. You will need to activate the switch GC_CONF_MATVAR. Change this constrant GC_CONF_MATVAR to X in INCLUDE LCUKOFCK. Note 456510 has more details but it has it as component. The same include works for header.

Thanks

Hi,Amber:

What do you mean ?You mean if I want to create a variant for a multi-level configurable material,I have to active the switch and configure it in CU50?

Hi Monst,

you dont you create a new thread for this discussion , so that it will be easy for others too to follow when they need it.

Thanks

Hi Monst,

To setup a variant you will need to use MM02 material master transactions. but after this switch you can configure the variant. which means that the bom will be exploded and you can then configure both the header and component.

Thanks

Amber

Hi Monst Yang,

whats the 3 rd screen shot you attached in your thread, isnt it the screen from purchase order with values?

please find some time to provide more details of configuration setup at your end as well as your expectations out of it.

Thanks

Ritesh
