Dear all,

All the systems in our landscape are being moved from the existing Data center to a new state of the art Data center, which has new H/w etc.

SAP PI system is also part of the list.

Inputs/details on the below points would be helpful.

1. Please provide inputs on how to plan the SAP PI Interface migration, how to group the interfaces so that we can have a smooth cut-over.

2. Which one is a good approach to group the interfaces based on Systems/Business Areas/Project/Adapters.

2. How do we handle SOAP--> Proxy/IDOC scenarios and Outbound Proxy scenarios.

3. Any other challenges faced and how they were fixed.

Provide pointer to any document/blog/wiki, it would be of great help.

regards,

Younus

Hi,

why not do a system copy ?

XI/PI guys which did the itnerfaces should help you with that task as they know what was done on the system,

in general - don't group - copy everything and import it into the new PI

>>>>2. Which one is a good approach to group the interfaces based on Systems/Business Areas/Project/Adapters.

depends on the customer - in most cases you can do it all at once

>>>>2. How do we handle SOAP--> Proxy/IDOC scenarios and Outbound Proxy scenarios.

WS clients need to be updated with new IP and all channels too (also sap backend system config)

assuming these will work with new IPs

anyway - I'd recommend to get a good XI/PI person to help with that as basis guys may not know what to check after the migration,

Dear Michal,

Thanks for your response.

In the migration, the hostnames of all the PI servers are getting changed with DNS names, so we will have to do this config changes in all the PI adapters. Hence we cannot go for system copy.

We are planning to have two Prod servers during cutover, so that the risk is less during migration.

For all SOAP sender scenarios, do we have to regenerate the WSDL's and share it with partner

For outbound proxy scenarios, can we point the proxy to send data to two PI systems. If yes, then how.

Any other area, where we have to be cautious while doing the migration.
