Hi,
What is the difference between SAP Basis 7.0 and SAP Basis 702? We are planning to upgrade from SAP 4.7 to SAP ECC6 EhP5
and we are currently using EMC Documentum 6.5 SP2 which uses SAP Basis 7.0. Would there be any possible issues/problems
that we may encounter because EMC stated that they have not officially certified SAP Basis 702 for Documentum.
Any information that we may get from this will be highly appreciated. We cannot decide whether we will just upgrade to SAP ECC 6
or do a one-step upgrade to SAP ECC 6 EhP 5 with this concern pending.
Many thanks in advance.
Hallo,
instead of throwing NW versions around I would follow a more general approach.
I guess the general requirement of upgrading from 4.7 that it might be out of maintenance by now.
However, as with every upgrade you have to look at the whole solution not just the one product.
The whole solution includes your ERP (including any add-ons like Documentum), BW, portal, whatever your business processes involve and how they connect to and use SAP.
All requirements have to be brought in line to create a supported environment.
Hence you might not end up with the latest ERP or NW-release but still with one which is maintained by SAP and fits your business processes.
Other components might also need upgrading, maybe there is a Documentum version which is supported with the more recent SAP/NW releases.
And get involved with EMC to find out how they can help you.
Regards,
Thomas.

Hi,
SAP Basis 7.0 is based on SAP Netweaver 700 release while SAP Basis 702 is based on SAP Netweaver release 7.0 EHP2.
If EMC is not officially supported SAP Netweaver EHP2 release then you should wait for it.
Thanks
Sunny

Hi,
Latest EHP for ERP system is EHP6 which is based on Netweaver 730 release.
Its recommended to go to latest release but since EMC add-on in your case is not supported on this release. So, there are no options left or you can ask EMC to give time frame when it will be supported on the new release and accordingly you can plan for upgrade activities.
Thanks
Sunny
