Filters in webi advanced use

Dear Sir or Madam,

Firstly, Happy new year to all of you, my best wishes.

I'm Using SAP BO IDT XI4.1 to build the Univers and Webi as a reporting tool.

According to my Data warhouse modelisation i have some mandatory filters that should be used to run the reports, in other word, it must be added to the filter section to use objects from specific univers folders.

Exemple: Filter 1,2,3,4 must be used to use objects from Folder A and B.

Filter 5,6 must be added to the above mentionned filters in order to use objects from folderC.

I know that i can force filters and configure them to becom mandatory and automatically selected in the report (hidden for users when developping his ah doc report).

My requiermenent is a bit different from the options that i knew.

Let's take the above example to expose my question:

I want the Filter 1,2,3,4 to be added to any new webi report (displayed in the filter section) giving the user the possibility to change a filter by the same dimension which will retrieve data from other query or be set with static values.

In addition to that, it could probably just a dream for the moment, if the user try to use an object from the folder c, a pop up should alert him that he must add the filter 5,6 in the filter section.

Thanks for your time.

I remain available for more details

Cheers,

Agreed with Amit totally. That's exactly what we do, educate the users, as they know their data already, we educate them on how to use the filters. Also, I create a Mandatory Filters folder in the Universe, so the users had to include one filter in every query, depending on the query they're creating, such as one filter per one context.

Thanks,

There is no straight forward solution for your query.

If you apply mandatory filter on universe class then those are not going to be display in the webi query filter section.Users needs to be go and view the scripts.

Better option is to educate users about how to to use and purpose of filters. You can create one extra class for filters and set the naming convention like Filter 1 for class XXX and similar to others.

After that you can educate users when ever they are going to create any report they have to select filters.
