What is the difference between DS - proposal tab format field external vs internal

Data source under proposal tab> Format  column shows external and internal .

What does it mean by external, i read somewhere they say to change external to internal.

Can you please tell what is the advantage over one other.

Hi Rogers,

This helps in converting data to check if data is coming in internal SAP format or not. Accordingly we have to change the settings
