Solution builder and Solution Manager integration

Hi Expert,

In order to integrate between the solution builder (transaction /SMB/BBI) I'm suppose to create a logical port.

What is a logical port? In what system should I create it? How is it done?

hi,

we use LPCONFIG to create a logical port for connecting 3rd party interface, but /smb/bbi case, nt sure. Please check.

This is the answer I have received from SAP regarding the Solution Builder and Solution Manager integration. Just sharing in case it will help someone else.

up from Q2 2012 delivery of RDS Packages we started to offer Solution

Manager - Solution Builder integration for first RDS Packages. That

means it's possible to start (described in appropriate Quick Guides if

possible) out of Solution Manager the preparation of Solution Builder

solution file and installation data.

This customer functionality in consumption is only possible for first

RDS Packages. The content is aligned for both tools each time but the

first technical tool integration (to call Solution Builder out of

Solution Manager with Solution Manager scope information) for the first

RDS Packages.

This functionality has the prerequisite that during our internal RDS

Package authoring we also have to use a kind of Solution Manager -

Solution Builder integration to exchange key information and to transferSolution Builder content into Solution Manager template projects. This

is what you found in the tool menu.

This authoring functionality/tool integration is currently not

officially released for customer purposes and not possible to be used

without several preparation steps for existing BAiO Packages . That

means

- Currently only used SAP internally

- For absolutely new RDS Packages in Solution Builder which follow

improved content realization standards. That means not used for existingBAiO Packages whoch are not prepared in content build

- Only possible in a Solution Manager 7.1 > SP01 environment

First internal used documentation is seen with link (in Solution

Builder):

Solution - SAP Solution Manager Integration - Link Preparation

The data exchange between both systems is based on WebServices

technology.

That means this new Solution Manager - Solution Builder integration is

currently only available on customer side for the consumption of

specific RDS Packages but not for the authoring itself."
