Tablespace autoextend Total Size

Hello people,

I´ve oracle 10g with the autoextend mode On in the tablespace. My doubt is about the options that I can to choose for resizing the tablespace size.

The TOTAL SIZE is 200GB and there are 15GB Free, the growing medium is over 20GB per month. Which is the correct procedure?

Add more datafiles or resizing the tablespace?

More thanks.

I agree with Orkun. Try to keep your datafile size settings equal for each datafile

Hello people,

The actual size of each datafile is 10GB and I don´t want to change it.

Then I´ve only to create several datafiles of 10GB? Can I to change the Total Size if Autoextend for to get all or almost all space of partition and don´t worry for the creation of datafiles?

More thanks

You can also change datafile parameters to change maxsize allowed. Then you don't need to create additional datafiles.

Hi Sergio,

There is no an exact procedure about the case. But, I recommend you create 1 Gb datafiles and set the max file size to 16 Gb for each datafile. Please note that try to keep datafile size, homogeneous, for each datafile.
