Dear All,
I want to clear one concept pertaining to Purchase Order Release Strategy. In Release strategy we have a concept called Release Group. In release Group
we basically release strategies. Can any one explain under what circumstances we can have more than one Release Group

Hi,
Normally we cannot have
more than one class defined in a release strategy for overall release!
(and you will receive message (ME492))
The following documents are subject to overall release:
Contracts, Purchase Orders, Scheduling Agreements, and RFQ's
This is why we are receiving error ME492 when accessing the transactions
:
Release procedure for Purchase Order
Release procedure for Contract
Release procedure for Scheduling Agreement
Release procedure for RFQ's
This is the reason that the system is prompting us to "Check release
classes". This message (ME492) is issued when we assign a release group
to several release classes, and this is not possible. Please also
review the following note:
493900 FAQ: Release Strategy
For purchase orders you do not have overall and item releases. For
purchase orders these are only overall releases. You can only have one
class for purchase order releases. It is not possible to use different
classes for purchase orders releases.
Purchase orders, requests for quotation, contracts and scheduling
agreements all use the same class.
It is not possible to have more than one class define in the release
strategy but it is possible to define different characteristics within
the same class.

Hi,
If you are using Table Structure:CEKKO,then you can have different Release Groups. For Example:
Release Group for Purchase Order (PO)
Release Group for Contract(CO)
Release Group for RFQ(RF)
But again ,if business needed again you can drag down relese structure for Purchase Order
You can have Release Group for Purchase Order as P1, P2 and P3 etc....

even if you are having more than 1 one release group, you need to assign the same class.
you can assign the same strategy code to a different release group with different char values
from the point of data organization, you can have 02 for PO, 03 for quotations etc which all use the same release class, or have differnet groups for diff company codes
