Urgent! Does MLR need future data of independent variables

42 Views

Dear SAP Gurus,

I am using Univiriate, MLR and Composte to run forecast.

I have a question about MLR:

“The general MLR equation as you are aware

Y = b 0 + b 1X1 + b 2X2 + b 3X3...b nXn + ei

Where: Y = Dependent variable , b 0 = Y intercept or constant, b i = Coefficients or weights, X i = Independent variables, ei = Residual or prediction error.”

I know that we have to provide historical data of Dependent Variable (Y).

However, beside, I remember (not exactly from where) that We also have to provide both HISTORICAL and FUTURE value of Independent variables (Xi).

Actually, when we test with the case of having no FUTURE value of Independent variables (Xi), the forecast result is not acceptalbe (with some minus result…)

If this is true, we could not have FUTURE value.

My question is:

Does MRL require us to provide both HISTORICAL and FUTURE value of Independent variables (Xi)?

I really need your supports!

Thanks very much for your kindly help!
