Creating a project using BAPI_BUS2001_CREATE with Custom fields.

I have around 30 custom fields in the strucutre CI_PROJ and need to update around 10 mandatory fields as a part of project creation. These fields are not in the sequence and most of them are around 40 characters length. I am using the BAPI_BUS2001_CREATE. I went though some posts and tried for couple of fields using the extension EXTENSIONIN. But no luck. I am able to create the project, but the custom fields are not getting populated.

Please suggest.
