NC 500 Access Issue

Hi,

In standard POD, after clicking on Log NC button the it is showing an error message with permission is denied. Please see the attachement.

User has access to POD, so user should also get access to NC500 button activity which is inside the POD. It only works if permission is given to NC500 (Log NC)activity in User Group permission tab. Please let us know if any step is missed.

Thank you.

Shivajit Phukan

Hello Shivajit Phukan,

In SAP ME permissions are provided to particular activities, so each User (within some User Group) must have appropriate permisions. It works as designed and there is no issue.

As a workaround, you may create different  PODs (with different activities/buttons configured) and different User Groups. Then you may assign corresponding PODs to corresponding User Groups in User Group Maintenance.

Alex.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your reply. Follwoing steps followed,

1. A button Log Nc is configured with NC500 activity. Also Is Plu- In is checked.

2. Then TEST activity is created for this POD.

3. Then later permission is given to this activity(TEST) in User Group Maintenance.

4. User from the User Group can use other buttons in the POD but they get permission error message when click on Log Nc button.

So do we need to give permission to NC500 activity seperately to the user group using Permission tab of user group maintenance? Please let us know this.

Thank you.

Hi Shivajit Phukan,

I don't understand why you have created TEST activity.

Again, permissions have to be provided for each activity (in your case NC500 activity) an User within User Group will run (no matter if it is run as a standalone activity or under button in a POD).

Hi Alex,

TEST activity is linked with the POD(TEST POD). This TEST activity is also created to make POD available under FAVOURITE Activity Group and share the POD/Activity link with users and later give permission to the User Group on TEST POD(TEST ACTIVITY).

As per your last message button activities inside a POD will not inherit permission provided to POD. Button activities will require a separate permission to each user group in user group maintenance. Please correct if my last statement is wrong.

Thank you.

Hi Shivajit Phukan,

Please refer to SAP Note #1325976. Maybe you find creating shortcuts for PODs useful for you.

And yes, button activities inside a POD will not inherit permission provided to POD.

Alex.
