SAPR3SHD user - ORA-01017

I am running an EHPi upgrade and during the preprocessing phase when the shadow system is started I get the following error in the STARTSFI.SAV file : RFC Login Failed. When I checked the Work process trace files I see the error :

C Connecting as SAPR3SHD/<pwd>@MSQ on connection 0 (nls 0) ... (dbsl 720 090112, non-unicode)

C Starting user session: OCISessionBegin(con=0, usr='SAPR3SHD', svc=07B960F8, srv=07B969A8, usr=1700EB28)

C OCISessionBegin(OCI_DEFAULT) failed with SQL error 1017:

C ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

C *** ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error '1017

I have manually connected to the DB with SAPR3SHD / SAP and this connects successfully .

I have checked the Note 400241 / 525677 / 398100 but none of these have moved me forward . Any help or advise with this issue would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Thanks for your advice: the solution was change the password to its default value via BRTOOLS and also run CREATE_SHDDBCON in SE37 enter user, password & <SID> as connenv.

These two actions progressed the install.
