Out put device is not defined in maintenance order print

Hi Experts,

I have a typical problem while printing maintenance orders from SAP. There was no such error for years. This has been noticed in the last 4 days. The

customer is unable to print. Whenever the user tries to print form IW32 transaction, system populates a window for selecting the printer.When the user

selects the printer the chosen printer disappears and the error -" output device not defined" is populated.

This error message populates for only this transactions while the print is working for other PM standard and customized transactions.

Pls let me know the root cause and solution to fix the same. The error screens are attached for your quick reference.

Have a chat with your Basis/ABAP team to ensure these printers exist in SAP and are active.

Were any hotpacks, OSS Notes or upgrades implemented recently?

Please check if a default printer is defined in the user master of the person who is facing this problem, you can check this via su01 transaction

Default printer setting is not enabled to these users.

But when we faced this issue, as a stop gap arrangement - we have updated the default printer to the

users. Doing this has resolved my printing issue.

But as this is not a permanent or actual solution, we are trying to find the root cause of this issue.

Pls suggest.

Please give us the detailed error message.

Is this happening for any particular user id or in particular system? Apart from uniqueness in transaction, is there any uniqueness among other parameters which support the output?

Dear Maheswaran,

This is happening to the every user using the transaction IW32 or Iw22. And specific only to this transacteion. This scenario is appearing in our live environment.(Production). We have several customized transactions, wherein this problem is not appearing. I have checked with other module users, there seems to be no issues in the printer selection and print.

We use the printing device as ZPOPrint, and is selectable. However we tried in selecting other printers configured, but the error repeats even with other combinations.

Only the PM users are affected with this transaction and there is ni uniqueness in the other parmaters.
