Adding of contract for limit item in shopping cart

Dear Experts,

We are in SRM 7.01 along with ECC 6 ehp 5 in classic scenario. While creating shopping cart for limit item, in the item details under tab 'Item Data', there is an option for adding contract. Could you please help me to clarify the below points?

1. Which contracts will be pulled in the value help? Since I am in classic scenario, the system will support only backend contracts. Is it the case that for limit items, only local contracts are supported?

2. Against one limit item, there is an option of adding multiple contracts to be used along with the value limit as well as option for checking the box 'unlimited'. What is the business scenario for such a functionality?
