Migration From BO XI R2 sp1 to BO XI R3 SP5

Hi All,

We are in a process of migrating from BO XI R2 SP1 to BO XI R3 SP5 below are the system details.

Existing System     :           BO XI R2 SP1

                                         SQL server 2000

New System          :            BO XI R3 SP5

                                         SQL server 2008

Can u Please help on the below questionnaires

1) Are we able to migrate the CMS Database  from Existing to new system? If Not Would you please suggest a solution.

2) Are we able to migrate audit database from existing to new system? If Not Would you please suggest a solution.

Can u please share any thing more to be taken care.

Ihave gone through the aboue

we have installed BO xi R3 by using SQL server 2008, is it possible to connect to SQL server2000 database for create universes and reports.

if yes can u please let me know the steps.

Hi Ashok,

You can have different databases for creating Universe and reports (in this case let's say SQL Server 2000) even if you have installed you BO XI3 using SQL Server 2008.

BO Repository (CMS Database) and Report/Universe Database could be different.

Thanks for your quick response.

SQL 2000 has been using for boxi r2, if we create any universe in the boxi r3. is it any impact to previous universes.

Hi Ashok,

Universe in BO XI3.1 and Universe in BO XIR2 can point to the same database. Both Universes are stored in different BO Repository so it should not impact on each other.
