Hi,
I was trying to figure out how copy works. Can anyone please tell me how copy works. I know how copy control works. It is by the copy control settings. What about the direct copy, where we go to crmd_order and open an order and press Copy Business Transaction button? how are the details getting copied to a new order? is it through the use BADI CRM_COPY_BADI or is there some other setting for it?
HI,
The copy control settings maintained in the customizing is actually used when you want to create a transaction with reference to another transaction and also maintain a link between the two. You can create different document types using copy control
While the copy button in the transaction simply copies all the data from one transaction to another similar transaction without any link of the reference document. Copy can only create another transaction document of the same kind.

Hi,
Can we use the BADI CRM_COPY_BADI to alter the behaviour of this copy? For example, if we don't want some fields to be copied? or is this a standard SAP function and no alterations can be done to the behaviour of this copy?also, is the BADI CRM_COPY_BADI, specifically used for copy control or can it be used for the regular Copy business transaction also?
No, copy is creating a real copy (no BADI).
The copy control is for creating follow-up documents with the option to use the copy BADI.
Well, if you really dive deep into it, you will maybe find a way (function) to manipulate the copy as well, but this is not the way to go. You should not redesign this 'standard'.
