SAP BCS

Hi

What is SAP's plan on BCS? SAP says going forward it is going to be BPC for all planning and consolidation stuff.

Any idea the product support is going to be there ?

Any update on this will be really appreciated.

Regards

Hi Jith,

As you might be aware that SAP BPC is  an unified Planning and Consolidation tool. Coming to BCS Support you can check the SAP Service Marketplace -> Product Availability Matrix (PAM) for Maintenance. Please go to the link below and input SEM to get the details.

Hi Raghu ,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I am from the BW/BPC side and not much aware of the BCS capabilities. What I hear is BCS is much feature rich tool when it comes to consolidation.

Though SAP says BPC is the future, can we confidently recommend that we can replace BCS with BPC?

Any thoughts!

Hi Jith,

If you check BPC 10.0 NW version then it has got a lot new features when compared to earlier BPC 7X. It has separate tab called Consolidation Central for performing Consolidation activities. Dynamic Hierarchy Editor (DHE) is renamed as Ownership Manager is  used for calculation of Methods and Percentages based upon the ownership data. Going forward we will see many implementations in BPC 10.0 version and many chances of upgrades.

Thanks Raghu.

I will take it as BPC can handle most of the consolidation scenarios.

One more quick question..

What about BO FC?

It seems to have heavy overlap with BPC.

How to choose between these two? Any thoughts.

I guess SAP is not planning to phase out FC. Please correct me if wrong.

Hi Jith,

I am not aware of BOFC and its capabilities. You can check the guides available in SMP on BOFC and also wait to see if some one comment on the same.
