Business Area field in MIRO and MIGO

Former Member

Hi All,

We made the business area field a required field for all transactions. The problem is, when MM and SD transactions are posted with tax, the system does not assign a business area to the tax line item automatically. Hence, they cannot push thru with their transaction since the business area field is required. Is there any way to make the business area field in MM and SD transactions specifically MIRO, MIGO and VF02 ready for input so that the users can just input the business area? Please advice. Thank you!

Please refer to SAP note:
199886     Business area in tax line

In the value-added tax line items, the field "Business area" is NEITHER
automatically filled NOR can you enter a value manually.

Postings to VAT accounts must be made WITHOUT business area. The reason
for this is that the field "Business area" does NOT exist in the tax
data. Therefore, the advance return for tax on sales/purchases can also
only generate postings WITHOUT business area and these postings must
correspond exactly to the original tax postings in your account
assignments. Otherwise, the tax accounts would have steadily increasing
business area balances.

As of now, the exception is only for  country specific for Brazil only (Note - 436374).

Hi Kenix,

Does this mean that we can not assign a business area to the tax line item even through substitution?

If that's the case I can just try to exclude tax accounts from my validation requiring business areas. However, won't this post any problem in the generation of financial statements per business area if our tax accounts don't have business areas assigned? Please advice what could be the best action for us.

Thank you!

I'm afraid not possible even through subsitution without modification. Of course you check on note  436374 and try to perform the relevant modification. But it it not recommended.

Please use the report SAPF180A and SAPF180 to distribut the line item as per Business Area. Please go through the documentation for detail. using trans SE38 >> SAPF180A/ SAPF180 >> Documentation.

Hi,

You have two concept ie............profit center and business area.

As you said you are making business area as required entry for all your transactions.Considering you already  links plant and division to your business area.

Why you can not go for profit center concept!

Hi

Please note that business area is picked up only when you enter it at MIRO or when you have a substitution exit for it.

The notes:

48121    User Exits in Validations/Substitutions

76872    Substitutions in FI at callup point 3

will help you in explaining how & what substitution exit is about.

Hi,

I actually tried creating a substitution rule for the business area but it wouldn't work.

Call up point is 2 and prerequisite is tax GL account and plant

Substitution of business area would depend on the plant

I figured this may not be working since plant is not in the tax line item. However, I can not find any other basis for my substitution? Any suggestions on how I can make my substitution work?

Hi ,

It can be done by Substitution logic in FI Module.

T Code : OBBH

Prerequistite : Company Code ="Enter you Company Code"

Substitution : Section Code = "Enter your Section code"

Business place = " Enter your Business place"

This will update the Section Code & Business place fields in all transaction where mentioned Company Code is used.

Hope it helps !!
