How to run Workflow?

Former Member

hi sap gurus!

i have a problem in running the workflow. i ran the workflow for the PR release in dev but it's not happening in prod. i ensured that all transport requests are transported to prod. what i noticed is that there is NO INDICATOR on the "there are running workflow" under the version overview. what might be missing?

in prod, no indicator for the running workflow.

in dev, tehre is.

and how to enable the "configure rfc destination"? when i performed automatic wf config, "RFC
User Has Wrong Password. Synchronize
Passwords?
" occured. how to solve these.

i am so new in workflow.

thank you gurus for the help.

1. You need to reset the password of WF-BATCH, which is a system default user, with help of your BASIC colleagues.

2. Configure the RFC in your Prod server with the user WF-BATCH and its new password in the SWU3.

3. Regenerate a new version of your workflow in your Dev server and transport to your Prod server to cover the old one.

I think after the above steps, you can run your workflow.

You really need to get thru the Workflow Runtime customizing - especially the RFC Destination.  If that is not working, it doesn't matter what the version of the workflow template it.

I agree with Manjesh, this is something the Basis folks usually do.

Good luck!

Hello !

As far the screen shot taken at production client is concerned, it implies there is no instance for this workflow  with respect to the version 0000.

Is that workflow is not triggering when purchase requisition is created at production client  ?

If workflow is not triggering despite its event linkage is active on purchase requisition creation, then there should be some other reason.

Have you checked the workflow log ? Whether the initiator have authorization to start the workflow ? Is there any check function module or start condition incorporated with workflow which has prevented it from getting triggered ? Also, check RFC queue and ABAP dump for errors.

hi suresh

i checked the workflow log but no work item exists. when i compared the dev and the prod, one of the differences is that in SWU3, the "configure rfc destination" in the dev is checked while in prod,  it is marked as red "X". when i started to execute this, the system prompted me for a password in which i have no idea about.

will the workflow be executed when the "configure rfc destination" has been checked? am i right that i should execute "configure rfc destination"? is the basis the right group to get the password?

thanks and regards

really appreciate your response

Hi,

Firstly, When you're trying to maintain the existing custom workflow, then do not forget to increase the version and update the definition.

Secondly, Configurations in SWU3 must be performed by Basis person who is havign SAP_ALL authorization.

Thirdly, You need to make sure event linkages and active versioning is proper for a workflow in every client you transport.

Finally, please mark this thread as answered, if you have already got the solution, and do not forget to mark the 'useful answer' or 'correct answer' for the replies you have got.

Regards,

Manjesh.
